Winter 2011. Leeds Castle, Maidstone, United Kingdom. Completely magical feel to this place in the winter. Peacocks roaming the grounds, a frozen lake, an aviary, a maze and a castle. You can walk through the gardens, explore the maze (I got completely lost in there) and have a bunch of fun in a castle that looks like its straight out of a fairy tale. The castle has quite a history. It was a manor for the Royal Saxon family, a royal palace, home to Kings and Queens for hundreds of years, and later bought by Lady Bailliee, who restored the castle to be the grand structure it is today. She supposedly threw some roaring parties there back in the day too. You can’t help but imagine just how amazing they would have been.
